Carlos Mencia
From Dickipedia - A Wiki of Dicks
Ned Arnel MencĂa (born October 22, 1967), better known by his stage name Carlos Mencia, is an American comedian, writer, actor, and a dick. From stage to screen, Mencia has managed to earn the reputation of being the least funny comedian across the most media.
Though Mencia appears to enjoy considerable success in the United States, no one has ever actually met anyone who admits to finding him funny. Also, while in most professions, the respect of your peers is considered a barometer of career achievement, for Mencia the exact opposite is true.

Early life
Contrary to the premise on which he has built his entire career, Mencia was born neither in Mexico, nor in Los Angeles, which is like Mexico, but with more famous people and higher quality public utilities. The truth is, Carlos Mencia was born in Honduras, where your clothes that weren't made in China or Mexico were made.
In fact, Carlos Mencia is not actually his real name. Carlos' real name is Ned Mencia, though he spent most of his life going by his father's family name: Ned Holness. How ethnic.
Many readers may find it comforting to learn that Carlos Mencia is not actually a real person, but is instead a fictional persona invented to give people who would be Larry the Cable Guy fans if they didn't live in cities something to laugh at. And also to sell these.
It is likely that those are made in China.
Missing from Ned Holness Carlos Mencia's biography is anything that makes it okay for him to make fun of the things he has made a career out of making fun of.
Career
After years on the club circuit, Mencia’s comedy career began to take off in the early 2000s. He did two half-hour specials on HBO, released a comedy album on Warner Records, and had a break out special on Comedy Central Presents in 2002. He has also appeared on Moesha, an alleged television show starring Brandy whose existence cannot be confirmed, as nobody has ever seen it.
In 2005, Comedy Central gave Mencia his own show, Mind of Mencia. It became one of the most popular shows on the network, mainly during the few seconds when people were waiting to figure out if South Park was coming on.
Mind of Mencia has been frequently compared to Dave Chappelle's Chappelle Show, an accurate comparison in many respects except for those respects involving the fact that Chappelle Show was good.
Comedy
Mencia’s comedy focuses on race, sexual orientation, politics, religion, class, and society, while skillfully avoiding humor, laughs, originality, intelligence and anything interesting or compelling. He often uses racial epithets and terms such as “retarded,” which is material that has been extremely well received at a number of middle schools.
Mencia’s catch phrase is "If you ain't laughin', you ain't livin'." This catch phrase is unique in that it is thoroughly uncatchy. If this slogan were actually applied in real world terms, Mencia’s “comedy” career would be more accurately defined as "guy who mostly performs for people who are not living."
Beaner
Mencia is part of a school of comedians who enjoy constructing material wholly from racial stereotypes. However, most other Hispanic comedians in this category did not spend most of their lives with names that sound like they could be a sales manager at a canned goods factory.
Mencia accomplishes much of his “humor” by stating popular stereotypes, a common comedic device known technically throughout the industry as “doing the easiest thing possible.”
Frequently, Mencia "hilariously" refers to himself as a "beaner," a common pejorative term for a person from Mexico. Notably, these jokes neglect to point out that Ned Carlos Mencia was born in Honduras and raised in California, placing his experiences in Mexico on par with those of rich high school kids from San Diego who drive down to Tijuana for the weekend to drink cheap tequila and impregnate each other. Mencia’s reliance on “beaner” jokes is equivalent to a Japanese person telling the "Me Chinese, me play joke" joke, except that this routine is funnier than any of Mencia's material, since it actually has a punchline.
Criticism
Terrible joke structures notwithstanding, Mencia has definitively earned his dick reputation by stealing material and then performing it for an audience of people who have not seen the more talented comedians who wrote the material in the first place. In a display of disrespect from fellow comedians, Mencia was given the moniker "Carlos Menstealia.”
In a 2005 interview with Howard Stern, comedian George Lopez claimed that Mencia appropriated 13 minutes of Lopez’s material without permission for Mencia’s HBO special. Soon after, Joe Rogan, the functionally retarded host of “Fear Factor,” wrote a post on his website accusing Mencia of being a plagiarist, alleging that Mencia stole jokes from a number of comedians, including Paul Mooney, Dave Chappelle, and “Jeff fucking Foxworthy.”
It is unclear whether it is worse to be accused of stealing from Jeff Foxworthy or to have the general public take sides against you when your opposition is Joe Rogan.
Mencia responded to the accusations of theft while being interviewed on Tucson, Arizona’s The Frank Show, stating that Joe Rogan had fabricated the plagiarism charge out of jealousy. On his own website, Mencia argued that the material in question was too generic to be attributed to any single comedian. The controversy remains unresolved, though it is undeniably true that Mencia’s material is extremely generic.
Maxim magazine recently named Mencia as the 12th worst comedian of all time.
To be fair, Mencia has frequently gone on the radio defend himself against accusations of plagiarism. Unfortunately, it's hard to agree with him when he actually has the "cojones" plagiarize MORE material in the process. This is the kind of brazen dick that Carlos Mencia is.
Yanked from Mardi Gras Parade
In February 2009, Carlos Mencia was pulled from a celebrity parade in New Orleans for offensive comments he made about Katrina victims. He was joining such luminaries such as According to Jim star Jim Belushi, former American Idol contestant Josh Gracin, daytime TV stars Christian LeBlanc of The Young and the Restless and Ricky Paull Goldin of All My Children. It is possible that the parade people realized at the last minute that none of these people are celebrities and decided to throw the most annoying one overboard.
Trivia
- Mencia starred in a Super Bowl XLII ad that perfectly encapsulates his highbrow wit. This was a groundbreaking moment for Mencia as it is not only insulting to minorities, but it is also demeaning to women.
- Mencia has often dismissed his critics as the same people who speak poorly of Dane Cook. That Mencia wishes to place himself in the same category with Dane Cook should be sufficient to conclude this entry.
